We were delighted to win Best Online Payments Solution (Merchant) at the FStech/Retail Systems Payments Awards in London last month. We received the award in recognition of an ecommerce payment solution we provided to hmv & Xtra-vision for their websites in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as their in-store subscription service.
hmv & Xtra-vision wanted to accept orders in advance for titles that were not yet released and to process the payment efficiently at the time of release. We provided the ability to confirm a card number’s validity with the card issuer without holding any funds in the cardholder’s account. hmv & Xtra-vision use this functionality when the order is initially placed. Then, through our recurring payments functionality, the card details can be securely stored for future payments.
Xtra-vision also needed to implement a subscription service that would allow customers to pay a monthly fee for rentals. These subscriptions are then set up in-store. We provided the means to do this through our recurring payments suite, which includes a scheduler terminal.
Cashiers in Xtra-vision stores now use our scheduler interface to store customer card details on our secure servers and to set up the monthly payments.
In addition, hmv & Xtra-vision required a robust fraud management solution that minimised manual intervention. With our configurable fraud management tool, hmv & Xtra-vision were able to screen transactions based on criteria that were relevant to its business.
In this way, hmv & Xtra-vision could easily identify potentially suspicious transactions that warranted further inspection. This helped to keep manual review to a minimum.
Responsive Payment Process
hmv & Xtra-vision’s required a mobile responsive payment process in order to provide their customers with a seamless checkout experience. hmv & Xtra-vision selected our secure mobile-responsive Hosted Payment Page as their preferred solution.
Our Hosted Payment Page is customisable, which enables merchants to provide a seamless brand and checkout experience for their customers. It also minimises our clients’ PCI compliance overheads as they can accept card payments without handling sensitive card data.
A further, unforeseen benefit that hmv & Xtra-vision noticed was improved error handling. Our Hosted Payment Page provides a smooth user experience even if the customer makes an error in filling out the payment form. This is important for conversion optimisation.
After setting each site live, hmv & Xtra-vision wanted to process test payments for 24 hours to ensure that everything was working correctly. This test phase was executed smoothly, and they were able to begin accepting live payments after 24 hours, as planned.
