Context of Role

One of the Corporate Strategy assumptions adopted by Realex Payments is the development of a multi business line strategy. One of these product lines requires the implementation of a very innovative application in the financial sector.

We are looking for a Grails developer with Groovy/Grails experience to act as a Lead Developer and support the development of applications within this business line.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop applications in Java;
  • Assess business cases, proposals and deliverables to determine impact on and compliance with the application architecture, including sizing, performance and capacity planning;
  • Contribute to all aspects of the SDLC, from specification and design, development, integration, rollout and maintenance;
  • Get involved in daily operations and project management;
  • Drive the necessary projects to deliver the application roadmap;
  • Creative input into product/software design and user functionality;
  • Mentor Junior Developers and ensure positive team dynamics.

Qualifications and experience

  • Academic qualifications in the area of Information Technology;
  • Ability to translate business requirements to technical specifications;
  • In depth technical understanding of real time processing environments;
  • At least 4 years of experience in Java/J2EE;
  • At least 6 months experience in Grails;
  • Have some experience with major pluggins in Grails;
  • Strong database skills – minimum 2 years of experience in Spring and Hibernate;
  • Solid experience in Ajax framework (jQuery);
  • Expertise in Linux (preferably SUSE);
  • Experience with Version Control Systems;
  • Demonstrated aptitude towards problem identification, resolution, comprehension and interpretation of technical procedures;
  • Good process analysis and mapping skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to explain complicated processes and concepts to non-experts.
