Risk & Compliance Officer
Context of Role
Based within the Finance function, the Risk and Compliance Officer will be working across all departments within the company to provide senior management with measurement and control reports regarding current and potential risks. This role will help create the necessary initiatives and programmes to monitor and address risk and maintain compliance. This person will lead compliance and will participate fully in all risk management strategies, ensuring that the key linkages are maintained with the Policy Review Group, risk management, and departmental processes.
Primary Accountabilities
- Manage the risk register and providing quality reporting on identified risks;
- Preparing and maintaining a gap analysis;
- Identify and follow up/manage actions required in response to risks identified;
- Involvement in the policy review group;
- Complete ad hoc reviews of compliance to external and internal policies and standards;
- Manage interactions with regulatory bodies;
- Provide risk input into business projects.
Duties and Specific Responsibilities
- Auditing of policy awareness (induction and on-going training of staff);
- Identifying industry process best practice across all departments;
- Create and document the process framework within each department;
- Maintenance of risk registers;
- Routine audit of internal controls within the company;
- Periodic reporting to senior management and Board of Directors;
- PCI-DSS – responsibility for assessing ongoing compliance with this standard;
- Knowledge of Corporate Governance issues;
- Excellent communications, presentation and organisational ability;
- Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and support the resolution of conflicts/issues;
- Proven track record in providing professional, objective and independent view;
- Strong interpretative, problem solving and analytical skills with an ability to make well-judged decisions based on a broad understanding of relevant factors;
- Ability to deal effectively with new demands in a changing environment;
Qualifications and experience
- Third level qualification;
- Legal or Accounting (Audit) Qualification with minimum 2 years PQE;
- Previous risk and compliance experience is desirable;
- Strong appreciation of the need for controls and procedures;
- Ability to plan and organise own work effectively;
- Good communication skills and strong professional credibility;
- Ability to use key systems and software packages;
- A knowledge of PCI-DSS standards would be desirable;
